NICARAGUA
DAY 1 – Arrival at San Juan Del Sur
This beautiful fishing village is a Nicaraguan gem, a magnet for surfers and sunbathers. At night, the beach still pulses with activity.
Today your group will visit the wondrous statue of “Cristo de la misericordia” (Christ of Mercy). The hillside statue is a viewpoint on a hill in the northern part of the town of San Juan del sur and is a magnificent visual sight.
DAY 2 – Playa Hermosa – San Juan Del Sur
The group will visit one of the best beaches in Nicaragua and it’s only a short drive from San Juan Del Sur. This beach was one of the locations for the TV show Survivor. Relax, rent a board, or grab a bite to eat at one of the few local restaurants.
DAY 3 – Ometepe
This massive island is made entirely of two volcanoes protruding from Lake Nicaragua. It is an incredible sight that you have to see yourself to believe. Your group will take a day trip from San Juan del Sur including transport and an organized tour
DAY 4 – Granada
Granada is one of Nicaragua’s most visited cities. The city is charming, the crime rate is low, and it’s the most developed and tourist-friendly place in the country.
There are tons of great things to do in Granada, so you won’t leave this city disappointed! Possible activities include: Boat Rides, shopping, eating great local food, and a tour of the famous Masaya Volcano. This tour gives you the opportunity to peer into the mouth of an active volcano and view the magma and lava at its fiery best.
DAY 5 – Granada
Another day spent exploring the city of Granada. Many local destinations to explore including many famous colonial churches and the mesmerizing Granada Cathedral.
Walk the colorful streets and experience the warm culture of Granada by visiting local shops, restaurants, or visit the famous Catarina Lagoon.
DAY 6 – Granada – Managua City
Managua is the capital and largest city of Nicaragua. The capital city has much more to offer. The Tiscapa Lagoon Natural Reserve is a watery retreat within the city, with bars, shops, ziplines, and a canopy ride with views of downtown.
DAY 7 – Granada – Managua City
Another day to explore Managua City. Visit any places from the previous day that you didn’t have time for or we also have the following suggested options:
The Old Cathedral of Managua (Catedral de Managua) is a spectacular ruin whose gilded neoclassical facade still stands but insides were devastated in a 1972 earthquake that shook Nicaragua.
There are also fascinating historical sites like the Ancient Footprints of Acahualinca (Huellas de Acahualinca). This site is a series of human footprints preserved by volcanic ash, the Footprints of Acahualinca serve as a reminder of the early civilizations that lived in what today is Nicaragua’s capital, Managua.
DAY 8 – Depart Nicaragua for Costa Rica
Today your group will transport to Costa Rica to the beautiful area Del Coco Beach. As one of the most popular beaches and destinations in Costa Rica, Playa del Coco is full of vibrant life and excitement. With excursions and adventures perfect for travelers of all kinds, you can get into excitement while visiting the sunny stretch.
DAY 9 – Del Coco Beach – Diamante Eco Adventure Park
Del Coco beach has something for everyone. One great destination is Diamante Eco Adventure Park with all the different exciting activities, no two trips are exactly the same – you can spend your time horseback riding, walking through nature, ziplining, kayaking, paddle boarding, or exploring the animal sanctuary.
DAY 10 – Del Coco Beach
Options are included for both the adventurous kind as well as those who want to see the sights of the city. Downtown Coco is great for anyone wanting to shop, visit local businesses, or eating at the local restaurants. Also be sure to check out the sunset point at a local eco-park which delivers a stunning view to the end of the day.
There are also more adventurous excursion options like visiting the national park Rincón De La Vieja. Other national parks might be bursting with tourists, but Rincon de la Vieja is still a peaceful hideaway. Less than an hour and a half from Playa Del Coco, this day trip is worth the travel.
